How to Reach Leh Ladakh in Unique Ways?

1. By Bike to Ladakh:

Routes:

• Manali to Ladakh: 

This is the biker’s favourite route from Manali to Ladakh as it is superior, practical, and offers admirable scenery. Leh is around 490 kilometres from Manali.

Manali to Rohtang – Gramphu – Kokhsar – Keylong – Jispa – Darcha – Zingzingbar – Baralacha La – Bharatpur – Sarchu – Gata Loops – Nakee La – Lachulung La – Pang – Tanglang La – Gya –Upshi – Karu – Leh.

• Srinagar to Leh:

This route is less popular as the distance from Srinagar to Leh-Ladakh is around 434 kilometres.

Srinagar – Sonmarg – Zozi La – Drass – Kargil – Mulbek – Lamayaru – Saspol – Leh.

2. By Bus to Ladakh:

If you’re considering taking a bus, be aware that there may be a “bumpy road ahead” in more ways than one! Buses from Manali and Srinagar travel across Rohtang Pass and Zoji La Pass, respectively.

3. By Airplane:

Air travel is one of the most appealing and convenient ways to visit Ladakh. Due to severe winter weather that covered the roads in snow for many months, Ladakh used to be cut apart from the other parts of India six months out of the year. Travelling to Ladakh is more straightforward thanks to year-round daily flights to Leh.

Numerous airlines offer direct flights to Ladakh. The Kushok Bakula Rimpochee Airport in Leh is the closest airport to the city, and daily flights are available from Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu, and Srinagar.

4. By Train to Ladakh:

If travelling by train is your chosen mode of transportation, Jammu Tawi, located approximately 700 miles from Ladakh, is the closest station. Frequent trains operate to Jammu Tawi from Delhi, Kolkata, and Mumbai. From Jammu, one can hire a private car to travel to Ladakh.

1. Kargil:

Kargil is well-known for the Kargil Battle between India & Pakistan, battled between May and July 1999. The conflict fought in the Region of Kashmir, currently renowned as the Line of Control or LOC.

2. Lamayuru, Ladakh:

The Lamayuru Religious community is a must-visit place in Ladakh, one of the most established. It is renowned as Tharpa Ling, meaning the ‘spot of opportunity’. Situated around 127 km from Leh on a lofty mountain, Lamayuru Cloister lies among Bodhkarbu and Kha-la-che. It is a Buddhist monastery, and many followers can be seen here around the year.

3. Nubra Valley:

It is the northernmost part of Jammu and Kashmir. It is about 150 km from Leh, known as the Orchard of Ladakh, the valley of flowers. Snowcapped Himalayan ranges and lies between Tibet and Kashmir surround Nubra Valley.

4. Hemis Monastery:

The most famous religious community, Hemis Gompa, is also named Ladakh’s most extravagant cloister. It lies around 45 km away from the capital city, Leh. Hemis is known for its yearly 2-day occasion, Hemis Celebration.

5. Pangong Lake:

Pangong Lake is the world’s most noteworthy saltwater Lake, at practically 4,350m. Its water, which is coloured in blue, remains a glaring difference from the dry mountains encompassing it.

6. Khardung La:

Khardung La is a high mountain pass discovered nearly 40 km from Leh and is the door to Shyok and Nubra Valleys. At 5,359m, Khardung La is the most highly motorable street.

7. Magnetic Hill

The Magnetic Slope is a street spreading on the Leh to Kargil public thruway in the Himalayan. It is an area at an elevation of 14,000 km. It has the Sindhu River streaming on its east side & gives breathtaking views of nature.

8. Zanskar Valley, Ladakh:

Straddled at 13,154 ft, Zanskar Valley is a semi-dry district settled on the northern side of the Himalayas. It has snow-covered mountains and an excellent climate. The valley lies 105 km from Leh and is a focal point for experiencing sports like journeying, paragliding, and boating.

9. Sanchi Stupa:

Shanti Stupa, also called Harmony Pagoda in Dhauligiri. It is one of the most renowned Buddhist places in the country. It is found 8 km south on the edges of Bhubaneswar, built at the highest point of Dhauli slopes close to the banks of stream Daya.
